The Japanese garden is a work in progress and will soon be completed, though it is anticipated additional improvements will continue for years. It has come about from the hard work of a group of volunteers as well as the charitable support of the IFFT Foundation (distributed by the Idaho Community Foundation), the Japanese American Citizens League (Pocatello-Blackfoot Chapter), the Bistline Foundation, the Hugh Suenaga and Bill Vaughn families, and the City of Pocatello through the Pocatello Arts Council. The garden contains an originally crafted gazebo and benches, and will soon feature a zen garden with water elements, a dry stream bed, Japanese lanterns, and plantings including cherry trees and iris. The garden is a rich symbolic representation for many things and provides a place to experience cultural infusion from Japan, and our Sister City, Iwamizawa.
